Penny Pinchers...

Seeing as by starting this blog I have realised what a tight arse   savvy shopper I am, I think it only right and honourable to share my gems of wisdom on to the blog world.

I have decided to make this a regular event, whenever I find an offer/comp/promo I wish to share yet unfortunately they will probably only apply to those in the UK.

My first is on how to save money buying cosmetics/ toiletries at Superdrug.

As a girl who wears a full face of makeup and a hair full of dye , mouse and hairspray I seem to spend a large proportion of my money on all these beauty products. Recently Superdrug have started doing an online feedback scheme in which you type in the code on your receipt from the store onto their feedback website and you can fill out a survey.

The good thing about it is that it only takes 5 mins max and you enter no email/ address/ phone number which always annoys me in surveys.

At the end of the survey you are given a 6 digit code which you write onto the back of your receipt.

You can use it within the next 30 days in store to get 25% off Superdrug own brand and 10% off branded product in store.

You have to spend over £10 but with my foundation alone at £11.99 this isn't hard!

I bought all m makeup/hairdye and my mum's and we saved £15 off our shopping with this!

I am now ALWAYS keeping a voucher in my purse in case I ever need to pop in and get any toiletries etc

Another plus point is own-brad Superdrug stuff is REALLY good quality, I use allot of it including hairspray, face cream and prefer it to branded ....it's also all Buav approved meaning none of it or its ingredients are tested on animals!

If you don't know, I keep rabbits and this is my VERY NAUGHTY bunny Bugsey who decided yesterday he was going to tunnel out of his pen and run around the garden at superhigh speed...I think he had a good day!

something seems a little fishy...

Hairclips- Me!
Top- Zara
Skirt- Asda
Neckalce- H&M
Tights- ?
Beetlecrushers- TUK from Camden Market

Decided to wear my new little fishy hairclips I made last night from the fishies I bought in Hawkins yesturday in this post.
I did try this outfit with blue sparkly tights, hoping for the complete sea effect but...it didnt look too good!

Loads of people asked me where I got them from, and seeing as I have sooo many other things to connect to clips....I am declareing this week FUNKY CLIP WEEK!
Kept singing this all day.....

They did kinda look like Nemo swimming on my wave (hair) but they are missing the black and white stripes....
I am yet to name them myself.............suggestions welcome!

Also, I collected the tokens in the Fabulous magazine in the News Of The World and got myself a FREE ModelsOwn makeup kit :)

It came with brown and cream eyeshadow, Mascara, Liquid eyeliner, Lash curlers and tweezers...
And that's the only eye makeup I use for FREE!

You can tell I like a bargain!

Check out my post for a great way to save 25% on shopping at Superdrug :)

And HAPPY BURNS NIGHT!

Bargains and ice skating bears... an average Monday.

Skirt- Matalan £3.50 in the sale!
Tights- Peacocks
Clips- Asda 50p!!!
'I <3 my magical ponies' - 99p Store for 3

Monday outfit of newly purchased bargains :) I'm easy to please!

This just proves that I even pick up clothing when I don't go clothes shopping, didn't even go into town, just Asda (hairclips) and Matalan is opposite the Lidl in my town so :/

Now I have a new hot glue gun that I bought in HobbyCraft on sale, I can continue making my own clips! I am determined to find EVERYTHING that can be clipped into my hair and make it so! (Although I am having it cut next week so it will be greatly reduced in size!)

My purchases from HobbyCraft on Saturday...

This material was 99p a metre! Got two of each of course...fuck proper fabrics I want pigs and sheep!

And the things I  bought today in Hawkins Bazzaar and 99p store..

Bears with ice skates on YAY and only 35p!
gonna have fun with this lot and clips..... and I now doubt that the ponies will stay up in my hair, but they may be turning into necklaces!

Oh and my ear has healed :) only took a week :) and I re-pierced it so it's all good now and I don't feel weird...as I don't really like the number nine so couldn't stand having only nine piercings!

Week in 10 #3

Last week has was pretty stressful but full of happy things too! hopefully this week will be calmer, I only have an art deadline on Friday to stress about, which isn't bad because, if anything, I probably do too much art work!
Last week was mainly spent...

1. watching good TV- Primeval and the new series of Being Human! Started with such an intriguing episode!

Mitchell (vampire), Greg (werewolf), Annie (Spirit)

but there was a confusing continuity problem with the episode...one of the new vampires in Wales that the new werewolf son killed was eating chips.....yet Mitchell (vampire) always said any other food or drink other than blood makes him sick....??? CALL THE CONTINUITY POLICE! apologise for the geeking out but the worries have to be aired  :)

2. Drinking Chocolate milk....with cream on!

3. Stressing and organising for my interview...... I was shitting myself... but it all worked out fine and I got offered a place on the Art and Design Course, which I just can't wait for...ROLL ON SEPTEMBER!

4. Ironing- i have found a new way of ironing for ages AND enjoying it....DVD's!

5. On the DVD note i watched some good movies this week...

Hello Dolly with Barbra Streisand in is just an all time favourite, the songs, the story, the dancing, the costumes.... Barbra. They just don't make them like they used to...
And NO ONE can rival her hair...

And yeh, I loved Avatar and all the animated movies but why cant people dance like this in movies anymore?

So, if you haven't seen it and like good songs and a really good story then give it a watch!

6. Shopping in the Hobbycraft sale, I don't usually as its very pricey but when there's things for 8p!! then I cant say no!

7. Planning some crrrraaaazy hairclips I am going to make now I have a new Hot Melt Glue gun after my old one ( it was truly old...from Woolworths!) died before Christmas.

8. Been looking at beautiful dresses I cannot afford but will soon ...*fingers crossed* have the time to sew :)

9. Looking forward to all my theatre trips including a newly booked Les Miserables in April! :)

Well I'm stopping at 9 because TBH I don't think I did much else!

Top= H&M
Tights= H&M
Socks- Poundland these ones :)
Cardi- Primark
Loafers- Primark
Broach- old
Bow- Peacocks from this set :)

Woooahh my hair needs a bleach and a cut...roots much.
Very risky wearing white tights to the studio but I actually DIDN'T get anything on them....achievement of the day! BTW this was last Monday, just a bit of a delay posting.

Had to wear some of my new find, I love how they brighten up old pieces you have got sick of wearing.

Felt really ice-skatery in this outfit and may of danced allot around the studio until I nearly cracked my nut tripping over an easel... clever.

I am hoping on many more outfit posts this week, now that my interview is over!
It went really well, the most stressful 4hours of my life waiting for it, and worrying I didn't have enough to show so I took EVERYTHING at the last minute. Yeh, the interviewer asked if I had come in a truck.
But I am exceedingly happy now as I got offered a place, there and then, 15mins into the interview, apparently they have got over 500 applicants and only 150 places so I'm well excited now!!

Of course I celebrated in true party animal style...

Takeaway Chinese, double bill corrie, bath and bed...SO HARDCORE!!!

And if your wondering what i ordered for my Chinese (I always find it interesting how everyone has different regular things they get) I had, Duck with pancakes, Sweet and Sour prawn balls, Egg fried Rice, Nooodles, crispy seaweed, Ginger and spring onion chicken and crispy chicken ..oh and prawn crackers!

Miss sporty- pack Poundland £1

Organic cotton skirt- H&M £5 on sale

Boots- Internacionalle £12 on sale

Bag- Peacocks £5 on sale

Of course I shopped in all the expensive shops as per. Even got my butler to carry the bags and talk to the shop assistants because I don't dare mingle with the common folk.

LOL JOKES I shop in Poundland.

Couldn't believe my luck when I found those glittery socks in Poundland, so of course bought them in every colour, treated myself to some new very expensive brushes lol £1.

I don't bother with expensive art equipment even though its all I do every day because quite frankly I have never been able to tell the difference between something painted in a set of £1 brushes and something painted in a £19.99 brush made from the Queen's personal hog hair farm.  Maybe that's just me being a Cheapskate, i prefer to have new ones every week that are cheap because I ruin them so quickly.

You gotta love Poundland though, we have two in our town and a 99p Store, always buy a basketful and loads of toiletries/food ...OK practically everything in there.

The bargains from Miss selfridges were to good to miss, to get two things for under £20 is an actual  miracle in there, especially such good pieces, and VELVET!

Looking forward to wearing that dress sooon!

Velveteeeen

I'm a teen...wearing velvet...becausee who doesn't love it!?

Dress Internaccionale
Leggings Primark
Boots Internaccionale
Necklaces H&M and vintage

Once again it was RAINING..pretty sick of it now. So my photos are cruddy, and don't do this dress justice. It's got a really cool back that is pleated and flared compared to the tank-dress front. I wore this outfit on Saturday because I just needed something comfy to wear whilst trawling the charity shops, I didn't wear these shoes, these were ones I bought in the sales....see next post!

Also, actually in love with this song atm, it didn't catch on to me when it was popular a few months ago because its not really my sort of thing..... but after having them sing it live on the new Radio 1 live LOUNGE CD, I can't stop singing it! This is a live version of 'The Cave' By Mumford and Sons.

Tell me what you think guys ...

Week in 10 #2

This week has been spent...

1. Eating lovely things (by that I mean sweet, unhealthy stuff)- after an empty kitchen finally went shopping to restock, and got all my favourite foodies like chocolate eclairs, Muller yogurts, Shreddies, Galaxy chocolate, Strawberry and chocolate milkshake... yeah there could be a pattern here!

2. looking at my fabric collection- I really want to start some sewing projects as I've got some really cool fabrics including Paddington Bear, which I  can't wait to get started with!

3. Portfolio making- I have an interview for an art course I want to do on Friday, so although I have millions of sketchbooks and life drawings to take, all my other work is huge, unmovable paintings or installations so I bought such a cute little photo album from Paperchase and have been compiling it :)

4. Watching Dr.Who on double bill and looking up the hidden synoptic links in my Dr Who book of facts ...lol Geek.

5. Bargain shopping! Look out for the next post on all my great finds!

6.Nursing my ear :( - even though I haven't had any piercings done for a while now one of my earrings flared up, probs because I'm naughty and wear cheap large earrings then sleep in them so my ear hurts.. but it's all good now, a little bit of care and antibiotic cream and its all hunky dory in the ear dept once again.

7. Drawing the Jaberwocky- For my mother (who works in a school) to put up in her class who are studying the poem... I did it all on A1 in black marker, its fun to just chill and do some kiddy, cartoon sketching some times....especially with MARKERS!

8. Listening to Paloma Faith and my new Radio 1 Live Lounge CD's a bit too loud haha

9. Wearing my bunny slippers and covering up with a snuggie blankie ( one of those ones with arms so I can still work, because it's been so cold with all the rain :(

10. Sorting out the garden- I'm not big on gardening but I'm always out there because of my bunnies so I like it to be kept tidy, and occasionally I have the urge to plant a few seeds....not that they ever like to grow for me very well!

What have you guys been up to this week?

Precisely ....Precisely

Yesterday I decided to embroider some of my favourite feminist quotes, it was very therapeutic until I got to 'precisely'. which, I do not know why I decided to embroider TWICE.

IN THE WRONG PLACE.

Was obviously so relaxing that I forgot how to use my noggin. Well, it only took me half an hour to realise this and then unpick it all.

But I have cheered myself up with some nice outfit photos today, would of liked to do them outside but its still pissing it down AS PER USUAL. Well, that's what you get for living in England.

Tee Primark
Dress New Look
Tights :/ OLD
Shoes some cheap shoe shop
Beads Vintage
Belt Vintage
Flower Gift

Apart from that my weeks been pretty good, a little scarce on outfit photos due to the fact I spent a few days in just paint covered leggings and shirts.... Getting some emulsion on to boards to start my first paintings of the year!

I love this outfit, its abit of everything, and although I love to dress in a theme this  really cheered me up. I love stripes especially tights and love the looks people give me because they know there not fashionable and not many girls wear dresses this length at my age... well not where I live. It's just plain jersey but a simple design is really nice to jazz up, i think its supposed to me a maxi dress but  my tallness combats this a makes it a midi ( there 'in' right?)

Also loving these shoes, bargain satin red sneakers which I have mostly been wearing all of this week, its nice to have a change from DM's and still be comfy.

And flowers in my hair always make me happy, especially these satin red ones I got from my buddy for Christmas...Instant spanishishnessss <3

Incase you were wondering what quote I was embroidering it was this one by Rebecca West...

I myself have never been able to find out precisely what feminism is:
I only know that people call me a feminist whenever I express sentiments that
differentiate me from a doormat.

genius.

Hello, I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations. How might I serve you?

Medusa here, reporting for her first day at space camp.
Looking forward to learning quickly everything there is to learn about working on the space craft so that I may soon explore to the furthest limits of time and space.

hmm.... or just a Tuesday morning. LOL

Tee H&M
Skirt Primark
Tights Geroge at Asda
Jacket Bay Trading
Beads H&M
Boots Dr Martens
Earrings Pilot

If you've been following me on twitter then you would know I watched Episode 1 Phantom Menace of Star Wars at the weekend. And found myself wearing one of my ahem *many*  Star Wars tops.
I love this one as its quite long (allthough tucked in here) and isnt just a logo or pictures but the whole Tee, front and back, is like cosmic space with the iconic picture of Luke and Darthvader on the front, which always creates the same query...

'Is that Jesus?'
'No. How can you know about religion and not THE MOST recognisable Star Wars character. Sort your life out.' is my response.

I  also painted my nails, attempting to paint all the planets = FAIL. so I took it off and painted them a metallic purple with sliver glitter at the tips, very cosmic.

The photo FOR ONCE actually shows the awesomeness of these lurex glitter tights, which were a bargain 75p.

Finishing off with a crisp white jacket, very futuristic, mirrored broach, purple glass beads and purple planet earring I was all ready to sign up to fight the Federation.... If there was a sign up centre near my house....or if it wasnt fictional.

Note to self, Art Studio stairs pics= AWWWKWWARD!

You can't stop change any more than you can stop the suns from setting.

Tuck it in!

I always tuck my Tee into skirts, probs because most of my skirts are high waisted and so this looks best but I have found a new appreciation for tucking tops into trousers.
It's the return of the anti-rebel!
When I was in school we never tucked our blouses or PE shirts in , taking it as our right to free our waistband from bunching up, uncomfortable  material. Going all the way against it I sat in detentions for this cause, we rolled up our shirts under jumpers to hide it from these waistband thieves... only to be stopped in the corridors to be asked to do the embarrassing act of shoving the front of it down the skirt whilst everyone watched.

Now I find myself tucking my tops into my trousers .......I should be ashamed of myself.

Trousers Select
Top Internacionalle
Belt Vintage
Boots Dr.martens from TKMaxx
Beads Vintage

I have been doing it a lot with these trousers (well I say trousers, they are elasticated and all that fly/pocket detailing is fake, they're treggings really!) I think it because it gives more of a severe look like army trousers.

I had a weird realisation this weekend, I've been feeling really stressed about deadlines and jobs to do lately, combined with losing my job over Christmas and stressing bout getting a new one but in the shower on Saturday I just had this overwhelming feeling of calm, content and just Happy being myself in my life. (and its far from perfect, not that I think a perfect life would be so interesting)

I am a happy person, but it was just a lovely feeling (and no I didn't have the shower on too hot) and it has continued so, I am not stressing and just enjoying everything, my little walks in the morning, wearing what I like, chatting to people I love, all the little things that I think we don't make enough of!

So Happy feelings to all of you, hope it rubs off <3
