KAPOW! London 2011 = Review

On Sunday I went to Kapow! A new Comic-con in London at the Design Centre sponsored by IGN.

I've been to London Comic Festival and other comic/ scifi exhibitions including all three Dr Who exhibitions/ museums in the UK, (GO ME, It is actually my greatest achievement in life so far!) and with a geeky family with major knowledge in all things comic/movie/gaming related I'm no noob!

For start the Design Centre was such a great choice of venue. Although not particularly large, this is the first Kapow! So they obviously wanted to start small and concise, and they definitely did that! If you don't know what the Design Centre is like inside then here it is all set up for this year's Kapow!

This picture is facing the entrance. showing the middle tier with the retailers on, at the end where the IGN ball is floating it drops down to the IGN Arena.

I liked this setup as you could walk round the top tier and see everything and you could easily find your way everywhere even if you weren't using the map in the leaflet, which was a bonus for me as I probably would of ended up in the kitchens or something!
On entrance you got a goody bag of posters, latest movie cards and the general leaflet of the major IGN stalls. Then you walk in to the IGN arena where there were live interviews for the IGN podcasts/competitions happening and areas to test play new games including Portal 2!

I obviously was attracted straight away to the Tardis in the centre...

OOHHH! And it was the 11th Dr's Tardis <3 Should of took my lifesize cut out of Amy Pond  :(

There was high quality of retailers, mainly the comic writers or illustrators themselves who were drawing at the table and you could buy their comics to have them signed there! The IGN arena was good as there was always something happening on the stage, and there was a coffee shop above it so you could chillaz up there and still see and hear what was going down! I stood in the crowd for some of the IGN Podcast, the panel with the cast of Misfits and the Cosplay competition.
(you can tell I was happy, the chipmunk cheeks appeared!)
Another good point was that you could have your hand stamped, leave and come back, yes most places do this but this was in a good location for food retailers and there is a near Nandos,
NO ONE can say no to Nandos!
The only bad point was the Auditorium and Gallery had special shows on at scheduled times and we wanted to queue up for the Secret movie X premiere (which ended up being 'Super') and the guide said you were not allowed to start lining up till 1.30, we go up at 1.20 to see where to line up and get moved on after queuing as we were too far back and it was max 500 people :( Major sadness, people had obviously started queuing up waaaay before!

Other bonus' of day were that I won an IGN tshirt at the IGN stand and I got my Photo taken and interviewed for Bizzare Mag LOL

The BEST part of the whole day for me was all the Cosplayers! The Cosplay competition was amazing and hilarious and I got some photos with a few of them too!

Polly wants a cracker!

Had a lovely night out Friday for my mama's Pre-birthday meal at the local Gurkha Restaurant. It was such delicious food and we though it was nicer than Indian, less spicy, more flavoursome!
Yesterday I went to Brighton with all my family, it was such a sunny day and bought some lovely things for a future post, for now you can make do with my outfit....parrot style ....
I want this one in my bedroom!!
I seriously needed sunglasses, check out that squinting!
Dress- Asda
Tights- Primark
Socks- Peacocks
shoes- TUK
Belt- Primark
Earrings- Asda
Necklace- Asda
Bag- Peacocks

Along the back of the lanes there is some really cool graffiti art in Brighton, we always walk past it, occasionally there are new pieces and here are a few that I snapped.
I really enjoy graffiti art and I think any plain walls should be covered in it, it brightens up the whole area and shows such artistic skill. I am very envious of those who can do it, I wouldn't know where to start!

I'M GOING TO MEET MERLIN!!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE MY MAMA she just booked tickets to Kapow, this Sunday, I'm meeting MERLIN!  ANd I'm going to Brighton on Saturday with all my Family so it seems it's gonna be a good start of the Easter holidays for me!
Which is just as well as I can't wait to leave break up, people are just pissing me off now!
It was a really dreary day today so here's what I wore...

Crochet dress- H&M
Skull dress- Zara
Black singlet dress- New looks
Boots- Dr martens
Necklace- H&M
Belt- Primark

I was unsure about this dress, but LOVED wearing it today, and for such a bargain of £10! The length is midi, which worked really well as I like a longer skirt sometimes but a maxi does get it the way, and I seem to  be prone to tripping over :/ ha ha

I'm looking forward to Brighton alot, got a few things I wanna get down there including some coloured Special Effects hair dye, Bindis and some ear cuffs...ohh and fabric fro my Prom Dress!!

Rainbow Haircut!

This was my outfit on monday......

Top- Miss selfridges
Skirt- H&M
Socks- Poundland
Pink princess necklace- Bargain 50p from ASDA (may have been the kiddie section AGAIN :/ )

I had a lovely Mothers day with all my family round nad a lovely dinner, watched 13 going on 30 JUST for the part where she does the Thriller dance <3
Also spent alot of time with my Aunt youtubing musical vids especially the new Shrek Musical opening in London which I want to see :) In other words it was an ideal day!

Monday I went and had my haircut, got a short 'Hawk now! then went shopping with my bro becuase it's my mama's birthday soon! Although he did use me to go and trade in games in CEX for him. Liberties.

Week round up

I've had a busy but nice week and here are a few things I've got up to...

1. Partied hard again at my lovely art bud's house...you know the party has got going when someone (one of the boys!) puts Steps 5,6,7,8 on! Outfit photos to follow!

2. Went shopping to Hempsted Valley with my grandmama and didn't buy anything but had icecream and chocolate Easter Cake!

3. I DID buy something in Primark.... but wait for it, i couldn't NOT buy it....
I know it's children's clothing again but it was only £4 and they just aren't doing as cute adult ones!
We are having a party for the Wedding, I am very excited about it! I know alot of people in the UK opose the Royals but I don't, yeh their not all saints but I think it's part of our History and Culture and we wouldnt have Half as much Tourism in our country if we didn't have them!
I particularly like the princes, I think they are very down to Earth, do alot of charity work, especially for injured servicemen, and they are obviously very modern; William has been living with Kate for 8 years allready!
( oh and it gives me a chance to don my yet-made unionjack dress!)

4. I have also had a right old Musical week, and have realised why I just dont have the coonnection to modern music like I do to musicals music, it's becuase I am a very Visual person and muscials are so much more than just audio entertainment. Not to mention it's all that's palyed in my house and what I have been brought up on.
I am loading a few more of my CD's onto my ipod right now, inclusing Joseph (which I will soon be doing the scenery for!)  Carousel, Into the Woods and Barbara Streisand sings Broadway!

5. Also I was going to share with you this dress that my mama bought me last week for £10 in H&M sale...

I loved the crocheted material and as it was a bargain I thought it would be a good piece for summer and later on in the year!
6. We had our leavers photos on Friday at school, everyone seems sad about it but I can't wait to leave! Only 1 month left!

7. And I tidied my desk with three baskets from Tescos,I usually have load of stuff o it that I dont wanrt to pack away becuase I need it on hand so I now have one for art materials I'm using, one for school things I need, snd another ofr useful tihngs like my keys etc!

Hope everyone has had a good week, and weekend! Will be doing a Mothers day psot later (I havn't forgot!)
